Selection Process

Based on the official notification, here are the details regarding the selection process and the educational qualifications required for the Stenographer Grade 'C' & 'D' Examination, 2026: Educational Qualification Minimum Requirement: Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Crucial Date: The required educational qualification must have been obtained on or before the specified cut-off date (noted as the closing date of application). Stenography Skills: Only candidates who possess skills in stenography are eligible to apply, as this is a core requirement for the role. Selection Process The recruitment process consists of three main stages: Computer-Based Examination (CBE): This is an Objective Type, Multiple Choice examination. Subjects: It covers General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. Negative Marking: There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Qualifying Marks: Candidates must achieve minimum qualifying marks in the CBE (30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for others) to be shortlisted for the next stage. Skill Test in Stenography: Candidates shortlisted from the CBE must appear for the Skill Test, which is mandatory but qualifying in nature. +1 Dictation: Candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted in the application). Speed: Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 100 words per minute (w.p.m.). Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 80 w.p.m. Transcription: The dictated matter must be transcribed on a computer within a set time limit. Final Selection and Document Verification: The final selection is made based on the candidate's performance/merit in the Computer-Based Examination, provided they have qualified in the Skill Test. Document Verification (DV) is conducted by the respective User Departments or Organizations after the declaration of the final results. Candidates must provide original documents, including matriculation and educational certificates, at this stage.
